Life after Hurricane Katrina
AUGUST 29 symbols the fourth centenary of Hurricane Katrina. The category five hurricane brought widespread damage as well as devastation to the city of New Orleans in Louisiana.
More than 1,800 people were killed during the hurricane and its repercussion. The estimate cost for damage is around US$81.2 billion (£49.2 billion) and this was considered as the most expensive natural disaster in history.
Even with the tragedy the city has started to rebuild and renew, and music, which is the basement of New Orleans, has played a noteworthy part in elevating the people, as well as this helps them to generate much needed revenue in these bleak economic times.
The capital has many more festivals like Jazzfest, Essence Music Festival, International Arts Festival and Voodoo Fest all over the year, which is a cabinet for local artists in addition to catch the attention of performers all over the world.
